Credentials
Following graduation from Davidson College in Davidson, NC, he received his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After internship at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, he completed residency in general surgery and served as Chief Resident in General and Vascular Surgery at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill. Continuing his studies, Dr. Wright served both as Resident and instructor in Plastic Surgery with extensive experience at the Hand Rehabilitation Center and Burn Unit at North Carolina Memorial Hospital. He holds certification by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Further credentials include publication on both scientific and clinical topics, and speaking engagements at a local and state wide level. He is a member of a number of medical and surgical organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeon and is a founding member of the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Wright entered private practice in Winston-Salem in 1975, becoming affiliated with both Medical Park Hospital and Forsyth Memorial Hospital where he served as Chief of Section for seven years. In 1978, he performed the first microvascular transfer of a toe for thumb reconstruction at Forsyth Hospital. Dr. Wright has special interest in hand, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.
