Your initial mini facelift surgery visit or consultation.
During this visit we will discuss and evaluate your concerns at length, get a complete medical history, determine what would be "realistic goals and expectations" for you and then discuss the procedure that will be used to correct your problem and give you a desirable outcome.

Preparing for mini facelift surgery.
You will be given complete Pre-surgery instructions and it is important for you to follow these carefully and precisely. This will include what medications, vitamins and herbs are o.k. to take and what you should not take; diet, use of alcohol and smoking. You need to know that use of alcohol and smoking can cause complications and slow healing. Have a responsible adult drive you and stay with you. You will need to arrange for this in advance as you will not be able to drive yourself home and will need someone to stay with you overnight.

MINI FACELIFT SURGERY OVERVIEW

Where is mini facelift surgery performed, what anesthesia is used and how long will it take?
Our facelift patients have surgery in the Hawthorne Surgical Center. Time involved can be anywhere from 2-5 hours - this is determined by the extent of your surgery. The Anesthesia used will again be determined by the extent of your procedure.

Mini Facelift Surgery Options:

• The first procedure (under the chin) is the simplest and most effective if the goal is simply to remove excess fat in the neck and jaw area. Liposuction is used to remove the excess fat through an incision under the chin, using a small tube or "canula" which "vacuums or extracts the fat out. The skin and muscles are tightened with small sutures. This works well for patients with good elasticity of skin in this area. Recovery is quick and allows for more extensive procedures in the future if needed or wanted.
• The second procedure, the "anterior" mini facelift targets the chin, jawline and lower cheeks. Skin is lifted and re-laid along the cheeks and jaws and fatty deposits can be removed or repositioned while excess skin is tightened. The incision for the procedure runs in front of the ears and into the scalp. Recovery usually takes a week and there is minimal discomfort as compared to a full blown facelift.
• The "posterior" mini facelift tightens skin in the jowls and neck with incisions that are low behind the ears and into the nape of the neck. Again, skin is lifted and re-laid along the neck and lower jowls, excess skin is removed along the incision line. Recovery is similar to that of the Anterior lift. Local anesthesia is generally used for all three of these procedures since they are minimally invasive. Many times this procedure is incorporated along with other more extensive procedures.
