Liposuction Surgery
CONSIDERING LIPOSUCTION
See Before and After Photos
Lipoplasty (as
it is often called) is often the only way of removing
unwanted bulges, in specific areas, that have
not responded to diet, exercise or anything else!
Many of our patients often choose liposuction
to achieve "body sculpting" by removing localized fatty deposits from the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. Sometimes this "stubborn" problem is an inherited trait which does not respond to diet and exercise. Today we achieve outstanding results - using refined, state-of-the-art techniques combined with our skill and experience to help you achieve that smoother, more contoured look you're looking for.
Are you a candidate for liposuction surgery?
Our patients, of any age,
can be helped through this procedure - we want
you to know that "age" affects the final outcome due to changes in skin elasticity at different stages in life. We will be glad to work with you and help you determine what procedure would be best for you.
Your initial liposuction surgery visit or consultation.
This visit is very important since you and we will discuss in depth your concerns and make decisions about what is best for you. You should be in good health, at a normal weight
with firm elastic skin and have "pockets" of excess fat in certain areas. We will evaluate your health, determine where
the fat deposits lie and also assess your skin
condition.
We will explain the contouring
methods and technique that would be best suited to
you. Sometimes patients think "liposuction" would be most effective for the abdominal area when actually "tummy tuck" (abdominoplasty) would be more beneficial. Sometimes a combination works best.
LIPOSUCTION SURGERY OVERVIEW
Where is liposuction surgery performed, what anesthesia is used and how long will it take?
Our liposuction patients have surgery in the Hawthorne Surgical Center. Time involved
can be anywhere from 2-5 hours - this is determined
by the extent of your surgery. The Anesthesia
used will again be determined by the extent of
your procedure. The technique we use (tumescent)
involves fluid injection that contains anesthesia.
In many cases this is all that is needed. For
more extensive surgeries - general anesthesia
may be used also.
Liposuction Surgery.
The method we use is called "tumescent liposuction." This technique has become very popular because of the "more precise results" achieved and the shorter recovery time involved. Tiny incision(s) are made in the area(s) requiring fat removal. A narrow tube (cannula) is inserted and used to break up and vacuum the fat from beneath your skin. Because fluid containing anesthetic is injected during this procedure, additional anesthesia is usually not necessary.
Liposuction surgery recovery.
Immediately After Surgery: you will be in our recovery area and a nurse will stay with you and make sure you are comfortable until it's time for you to go home. After Your Surgery you will be given instructions as to what to and what not to do. Any discomfort from swelling, bruising and soreness will lessen each day - in the meantime we will instruct you on the use of pain medication to maintain a good comfort level.
Getting back to normal after liposuction surgery.
We will want you to start walking soon after your procedure. You should begin to feel better in a couple of days and be back to work within a few days. You will need to avoid strenuous activity for about a month until your body completely heals.
Our entire staff is dedicated to help you achieve "your" good outcome! After a few weeks - as the "new you" emerges - we're confident you'll be happy.
