BREAST REDUCTION PROCEDURE OVERVIEW
The breast reduction method used most commonly involves three incisions. After you are anesthetized an incision will be made around the "areola" with another running vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease underneath the breast. The third follows the natural curve of the breast crease. The incisions outline the skin, fat and breast tissue to be removed. With very large breasts, it is common to reposition the nipple and areola also. After breast reduction, the remaining skin is brought down and together to reshape the breast, incisions are closed with stitches and the results are "a new contoured breast."
